Actifed DM 1.25mg/30mg/10mg per 5ml Syrup

Triprolidine, pseudoephedrine and dextromethorphan is a combination syrup for short-term relief of cold and flu symptoms, especially a dry, irritating cough with congestion.

• Triprolidine is an antihistamine that reduces sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes.
• Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that helps clear a blocked nose.
• Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that calms a dry cough.

It is for adults and children aged 12 and over.

Use it exactly as the label, your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

• Shake the bottle well and use the measuring spoon supplied.
• Do not take more than the label says, and leave the stated gap between doses.
• If you forget a dose, take the next one when needed, as long as the last was at least 4 hours ago. Do not double up.
• Use it for a short time only. See a doctor if symptoms get worse or do not improve after a few days.
• Never use it to make a child sleepy.

Common side effects include:

• headache, dizziness, drowsiness or feeling jittery
• trouble sleeping
• dry mouth, nausea or upset stomach
• blurred vision

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• a sudden severe headache, sickness, confusion, fits or vision changes
• sudden tummy pain or bleeding from the bottom
• chest pain, or a fast or irregular heartbeat
• fever with red skin and many small pus spots
• swelling of the face or throat, a blistering rash, or trouble breathing
• hallucinations, or difficulty passing urine

Do not take it if you:

• have high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, phaeochromocytoma or severe kidney disease
• take beta blockers, SSRI antidepressants, or have taken an MAOI or RIMA in the last 2 weeks
• are under 12

Check with a pharmacist first if you have liver or kidney problems, asthma or a chesty cough, prostate or bladder problems, blocked blood vessels, or a history of alcohol or drug misuse, or take sedatives, other antidepressants, antipsychotics, opioids, other cold or allergy medicines, or heart or blood pressure medicines.

Store below 25°C in the original container and carton, tightly closed. Do not refrigerate. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Drowsiness: it may make you sleepy. If affected, do not drive or use machines.

Alcohol: avoid alcohol while taking it.

Dependence: it can lead to dependence, so use it only for a short time.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: ask your doctor or pharmacist before use.

Some brands contain sugar, sorbitol or alcohol; check the label if you have diabetes or sugar intolerance.
