Acebex Capsule 25000IU/250mg/70mg/10mg/10mg/40mg/10mcg/50mg/20mg Capsules

Vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E and a group of B vitamins are combined in this supplement to help correct or prevent low vitamin levels.

• Vitamin A helps the immune system, vision in dim light and healthy skin.
• Vitamin C helps keep cells, skin, blood vessels and bones healthy and helps wounds heal.
• Vitamin E supports healthy skin, eyes and the immune system.
• B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinamide, calcium pantothenate and B6) help release energy from food and keep nerves and skin healthy. Vitamin B12 helps make red blood cells.

Take it as your doctor or pharmacist tells you and do not take more than the label says.

• Swallow with water. A supplement does not replace a balanced diet.
• Do not take it with other supplements that contain vitamin A, such as fish liver oil or other multivitamins.
• Do not take it for long periods unless a doctor advises it.
• If you miss a dose, take the next one as normal. Do not double up.

Possible side effects include:

• stomach pain, diarrhoea or wind (from large amounts of vitamin C)

Speak to a doctor straight away if you notice:

• numbness, tingling or loss of feeling in your hands or feet (a sign of too much vitamin B6)

Taking too much vitamin A for many years can weaken bones and raise the risk of fractures later in life.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• are pregnant, may be pregnant or are planning a baby
• eat liver or liver products such as pâté most weeks
• are older, or have osteoporosis or a high fracture risk
• already take other vitamin supplements or any medicines

Store as directed on the pack, and keep out of the sight and reach of children.

High vitamin A: NHS advice is to keep vitamin A from food and supplements to 1.5 mg (about 5,000 IU) a day or less. Some capsules in this group contain far more (for example 25,000 IU), so use them only on a doctor's advice and for a short time.

Pregnancy: do not take supplements containing vitamin A (retinol) if you are pregnant, because too much can harm the baby's development.

Vitamin B6: NHS advice is not to take more than 10 mg a day from supplements unless a doctor advises it.
