Dyclo 75mg Injection

Diclofenac injection is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It reduces pain and swelling.

It is used for short-term relief of:

• flare-ups of joint or back pain
• gout attacks
• pain from kidney stones
• pain from injuries
• pain after an operation (given as a drip in hospital)

A doctor or nurse gives the injection deep into the buttock muscle, or as a slow drip into a vein. You do not give it yourself.

• It is usually given for only 1 or 2 days. Tablets or suppositories may be used after that.
• Older people may be given a lower dose.
• Your doctor may also give a medicine to protect your stomach.
• Tell the nurse if the injection is very painful.

It is not suitable for children.

Common side effects include:

• stomach pain, heartburn, feeling sick or diarrhoea
• headache or dizziness
• rash
• pain, redness or swelling at the injection site

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• chest pain, or sudden weakness of one side, slurred speech or vision loss
• black or bloody stools, or vomiting blood
• wheezing, swollen face or lips, or blistering or peeling skin
• yellow skin or eyes, or big changes in how much you pee
• severe pain, darkening or sores where the injection was given

You must not have it if you:

• are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen, other NSAIDs or sulphites
• have or had a stomach ulcer or bleeding
• have heart, kidney or liver failure, heart disease, a past stroke or circulation problems
• are more than 6 months pregnant

Check with your doctor if you have asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, Crohn's or colitis, are elderly, smoke, or take blood thinners, steroids, SSRIs, lithium or methotrexate.

Store below 30°C in the original pack to protect from light, out of the sight and reach of children.

Heart and stroke: NSAIDs slightly raise the risk of heart attack and stroke, more so at high doses.

Pregnancy: do not use in the last 3 months. Earlier in pregnancy use only if a doctor says it is essential. It may make it harder to get pregnant.

Breastfeeding: tell your doctor first.

Driving: do not drive if you feel dizzy, sleepy or have vision problems.
