Dorlol Eye Drops 20/5mg Drops

Dorzolamide and timolol eye drops lower high pressure inside the eye. They are used for open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension, often when a beta-blocker eye drop alone is not enough.

• Dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor.
• Timolol is a beta-blocker.

Both reduce the amount of fluid the eye makes, but in different ways, so together they lower eye pressure more. The drops control the condition but do not cure it, so keep using them even if you feel well.

Use the drops exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at about the same times each day.

• Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid and let one drop fall into the pocket.
• Do not let the bottle tip touch your eye or anything else.
• Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner for 2 to 3 minutes.
• If you use other eye drops, leave at least 10 minutes between them.
• Remove soft contact lenses first and wait 15 minutes before putting them back (preserved drops).
• If you miss a dose, use it when you remember unless the next is nearly due. Never use a double dose.

Common side effects include:

• burning, stinging, itching or watering of the eyes
• a bitter or unusual taste
• blurred vision for a short time, dry eyes
• dizziness

Stop and get medical help straight away if you have:

• wheezing or shortness of breath
• a slow or irregular heartbeat, fainting or chest pain
• swelling of the face, lips or eyelids, or a skin rash
• eye pain, redness or swelling of the eyelid
• swollen ankles or muscle weakness

Do not use these drops if you have asthma or severe chronic lung disease (COPD), a slow heartbeat, heart failure or heart rhythm problems, severe kidney disease or kidney stones. Check with your doctor first if you:

• have heart disease, low blood pressure or poor circulation (such as Raynaud's)
• have diabetes or an overactive thyroid, as timolol can hide warning signs
• have myasthenia gravis or liver problems
• have serious allergies
• take heart or blood pressure medicines, other glaucoma drops, acetazolamide or sulfa medicines

Tell your surgeon you use these drops before any operation.

Keep the bottle tightly closed at room temperature, away from heat and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

Whole-body effects: although they are eye drops, some medicine reaches the bloodstream and can affect the heart and lungs.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not use them in pregnancy unless your doctor says it is necessary. They are not recommended while breastfeeding, as timolol can pass into breast milk.

Driving: do not drive until your vision is clear.
