Ceremin Syrup 1g Syrup

Piracetam is used with other medicines to treat myoclonus. Myoclonus causes sudden, uncontrolled jerking or twitching, mostly in the arms and legs.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Your doctor may increase the dose slowly.

• Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew them, as they taste very bitter. A liquid form is available if swallowing is hard.
• Do not stop taking it suddenly, as the jerking and twitching may come back.
• If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose. Take the next dose as normal.

Possible side effects include:

• nervousness, restlessness, agitation or anxiety
• sleepiness, weakness, dizziness, headache or trouble sleeping
• feeling sick, being sick, diarrhoea or tummy pain
• weight gain
• rash or itching

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• difficulty breathing, swelling or fever (signs of an allergic reaction)
• unusual bleeding
• fits that get worse

Do not take it if you have serious kidney problems, Huntington's disease, or have ever had bleeding in the brain.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have any kidney problems or a bleeding problem
• are older
• take blood thinners such as warfarin, low-dose aspirin, or thyroid medicine
• are on a low-salt diet
• are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding

Keep out of the sight and reach of children, and do not use after the expiry date.

Driving: piracetam can cause drowsiness or shakiness. Do not drive or use machines if affected.

Pregnancy: use contraception while taking it, and contact your doctor straight away if you think you may be pregnant.

Bleeding: rarely it can affect blood clotting. Tell your doctor about any unusual bleeding.
