Brytim Eye Drops 2/5mg Drops

Brimonidine tartrate and timolol are two medicines in one eye drop that both lower pressure inside the eye.

• Brimonidine (an alpha-2 agonist) and timolol (a beta blocker) reduce the amount of fluid made in the eye and help it drain.

It is used to control glaucoma when beta blocker eye drops alone are not enough.

Use it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, usually about 12 hours apart. It is only for the eyes.

• Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid and put one drop into the pocket.
• Do not let the bottle tip touch your eye or anything else.
• Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner for 2 minutes.
• Wait at least 5 minutes between this and any other eye drops.
• Remove soft contact lenses and wait 15 minutes before putting them back.
• If you miss a dose, use it when you remember, then go back to your usual routine. Do not double up.
• Use it every day and do not stop without talking to your doctor.

Common side effects include:

• red, burning, stinging or itchy eyes
• dry or watery eyes, or swollen eyelids
• blurred vision
• sleepiness, headache, dry mouth or weakness

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• chest pain, a slow, fast or irregular heartbeat, or fainting
• wheezing or trouble breathing
• swelling of the face, lips or throat (call emergency services)

Do not use it if you:

• have or have had asthma or severe lung disease
• have a slow heartbeat, heart failure or heart rhythm problems
• take MAOI or certain other antidepressants

Check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you have heart disease, low blood pressure, poor circulation, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, kidney or liver problems, or a history of severe allergy, or if you are due to have an operation.

Keep the bottle in its carton to protect from light, and out of the reach of children. Throw it away 4 weeks after first opening.

Children: must not be used in babies under 2 and is not usually used in children. Get medical help straight away if a child swallows it.

Diabetes: timolol can hide signs of low blood sugar.

Driving: it may cause sleepiness or blurred vision. Do not drive until these pass.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: do not use in pregnancy unless your doctor considers it necessary. Do not use while breastfeeding.
