Neurocoline 500mg Tablets

Citicoline is a natural substance in the body that is involved in building the membranes of brain cells. It belongs to a group of medicines called nootropics.

It is used to help with problems in memory and behaviour that follow a stroke or a head injury.

Take it as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Your doctor will decide how long treatment lasts.

• You can take it with or without food.
• Do not stop taking it before speaking to your doctor.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.

Side effects are very rare. They may include:

• headache or dizziness
• feeling sick or diarrhoea
• flushing of the face
• swelling of the hands or legs
• changes in blood pressure

Get medical help straight away if you have signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash, swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• are allergic to citicoline or any other ingredient
• are allergic to aspirin, as this may trigger asthma
• take medicines containing levodopa (for Parkinson’s disease) – citicoline can increase their effects
• take meclofenoxate
• are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are breastfeeding

It has not been well studied in children.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children. No special storage conditions are required; do not use after the expiry date.

Do not take citicoline if you have a condition with an overactive parasympathetic nervous system (causing low blood pressure, sweating and fainting). Citicoline is not known to affect driving.
