Loricam Tablets 8mg Tablets

Lornoxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam group. It eases pain and reduces inflammation.

It is used for:

• short-term treatment of sudden (acute) mild to moderate pain
• pain and inflammation of the joints in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at the lowest dose and for the shortest time needed.

• Swallow the tablets with plenty of water.
• Take them before meals, not with food, because food can make lornoxicam work less well.
• If you forget a dose, do not take a double dose to make up for it.
• It is not recommended for children and teenagers under 18.
• If you take too much, contact a doctor or pharmacist straight away.

Common side effects include:

• mild headache and dizziness
• feeling sick, being sick, stomach pain, indigestion or diarrhoea

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• severe or ongoing stomach pain, black stools, or vomiting blood
• shortness of breath, chest pain, or ankle swelling that is new or worse
• yellow skin or eyes
• an allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing
• a rash, blisters or sores of the skin, mouth, eyes or genitals, especially with fever

Do not take it if you:

• are allergic to lornoxicam, aspirin or other NSAIDs, or take another NSAID such as ibuprofen or aspirin
• have, or have had, a stomach ulcer or bleeding, or a bleeding disorder or low platelets
• have severe heart failure or severe liver or kidney disease
• are in the last 3 months of pregnancy

Check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you:

• have heart problems, high blood pressure, a past stroke, diabetes, high cholesterol or smoke
• have asthma, kidney or liver problems, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or lupus
• take blood thinners, steroids, SSRIs, methotrexate, lithium, ciclosporin, tacrolimus, digoxin, water tablets, blood pressure medicines, or diabetes tablets
• are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding

Store below 30°C, out of the sight and reach of children.

Heart and stroke: NSAIDs like lornoxicam may slightly raise the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially at high doses or with long use. Do not take more, or for longer, than advised.

Pregnancy and fertility: it must not be taken in the last 3 months of pregnancy and is not recommended earlier unless your doctor advises it. It may reduce fertility in women.

Chickenpox: avoid using it during chickenpox.

Long-term use: your doctor may arrange regular blood tests if you are older or take it for more than 3 months.
