Hifen-X 300mg Tablets

Dexibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is the active part of ibuprofen. It works by lowering prostaglandins, substances the body makes that cause pain and inflammation.

It is used to relieve:

• pain and inflammation from osteoarthritis
• period pain
• mild to moderate pain, such as muscle and joint pain, headache, toothache, and pain and swelling after an injury

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at the lowest dose and for the shortest time that controls your symptoms.

• Swallow the tablets with a glass of water.
• Taking it with a meal is recommended, as this helps protect your stomach, especially with longer use. It may work faster on an empty stomach.
• If you miss a dose, do not take a double dose. Take the next one as usual.
• Do not take it with other NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, diclofenac or aspirin painkillers.

Common side effects include:

• indigestion or stomach ache
• feeling sick, vomiting or diarrhoea
• tiredness, drowsiness, dizziness or headache
• a skin rash

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• black poo, bloody diarrhoea, vomiting blood, or severe stomach pain
• swelling of the face, tongue or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing
• a widespread rash, blisters, peeling skin or mouth sores, often with fever
• yellow skin or eyes
• chest pain, fever with sore throat, or passing very little urine

Do not take it if you have had a reaction to aspirin or other NSAIDs, have or had a stomach ulcer or bleeding, have active Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, have severe heart, liver or kidney disease, or are in the last 3 months of pregnancy.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you:

• have asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, or have had a stroke
• have lupus, a bleeding disorder, or an infection such as chickenpox
• take blood thinners, blood pressure medicines, water tablets, steroids, SSRIs, lithium or methotrexate
• are older, or are trying to become pregnant

Store below the temperature shown on the pack, and keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Heart and stroke: NSAIDs may slightly raise the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially at high doses or with long use.

Pregnancy: do not take it in the last 3 months. Avoid it earlier in pregnancy unless your doctor advises it; from 20 weeks it can affect the baby's kidneys. Avoid long or high-dose use when breastfeeding.

Infections: it can hide fever and pain from an infection.

Driving and alcohol: do not drive if you feel dizzy, drowsy or have blurred vision. Heavy drinking increases stomach problems.
