Rosunext 20mg Tablets

Rosuvastatin is a statin medicine that lowers high cholesterol and other blood fats. It slows the body's production of cholesterol.

It is used to:

• lower cholesterol when diet and exercise are not enough
• reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke

It is taken long term alongside a low-fat diet and healthy lifestyle.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, once a day at about the same time.

• It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not split, chew or crush it.
• If you take antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, take them at least 2 hours after this medicine.
• Keep taking it even if you feel well. Do not stop without talking to your doctor.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless your next dose is nearly due, then skip it. Never take a double dose.

Common side effects include:

• headache or dizziness
• stomach pain or constipation
• joint pain
• trouble sleeping

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or tiredness
• dark or red-brown urine, or passing less urine
• yellow skin or eyes, pain in the upper right tummy, or unusual bleeding or bruising
• rash, hives, swelling of the face, lips or throat, or difficulty breathing

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have or have had liver disease
• have kidney or thyroid problems, or diabetes or prediabetes
• have had muscle aches or weakness
• are of Asian origin or over 65
• drink more than 2 alcoholic drinks a day
• have had seizures or low blood pressure
• take any other medicines, vitamins or herbal products

Keep in the original tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture (not in the bathroom), and out of the reach of children.

Pregnancy: tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a baby, and contact them straight away if you become pregnant.

Breastfeeding: do not breastfeed while taking it.

Alcohol: ask your doctor how much is safe, as alcohol can raise the risk of serious side effects.

Hospital or surgery: tell any doctor treating you, especially for a serious injury or infection, that you take it.
