Moxicin Eye Drops. 5mg Drops

Moxifloxacin eye drops treat bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), an infection of the clear layer covering the white of the eye and the inside of the eyelids.

Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by killing the bacteria that cause the infection. It does not work for eye infections caused by viruses.

Use the drops as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at about the same times each day.

• Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower lid and let one drop fall into the pocket.
• Close your eye for 2 to 3 minutes and press gently on the inner corner.
• Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye, fingers or anything else.
• If you use another eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes between them.
• Keep using the drops until the course is finished, even if your eye looks better.
• If you miss a dose, use it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due. Do not use extra to catch up.

Common side effects include:

• red, itchy, watery or irritated eyes
• eye pain or dry eyes
• blurred vision
• runny nose or cough

Get medical help straight away if…

• you get a rash, hives, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
• you have difficulty breathing or swallowing
• you have fever, chills or sore throat, or ear pain

Do not use moxifloxacin eye drops if you are allergic to moxifloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin or ofloxacin.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you:

• are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding
• use any other medicines, including other eye drops

Keep the bottle tightly closed in its original container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

Do not wear contact lenses while you have symptoms of conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis spreads easily, so wash your hands often. A contaminated dropper can cause a serious eye infection. See your doctor if your eye does not improve or gets worse.
