Leradip Tablets 10mg Tablets

Lercanidipine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is a calcium-channel blocker: it relaxes and widens your blood vessels, so your heart can pump blood around your body more easily.

Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of problems such as stroke and heart failure. It is usually a long-term treatment.

Take lercanidipine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, once a day at the same time.

• Take it at least 15 minutes before a meal, ideally before breakfast, because food changes how it works.
• Swallow the tablet with water.
• If you miss a dose, skip it and take the next one at the usual time. Never take two doses together.
• Keep taking it even if you feel well, unless your doctor tells you to stop.

Common side effects include:

• headache, dizziness, tiredness
• flushing of the face or neck
• a fast or pounding heartbeat (palpitations)
• swollen ankles
• feeling sick, tummy pain, rash

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• chest pain or tightness
• fainting
• swelling of the throat or tongue, a raised itchy rash, or trouble breathing

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have heart failure or angina, or have recently had a heart attack
• have severe liver or kidney problems
• are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding (a different medicine is usually preferred)
• take erythromycin, clarithromycin, some antifungal medicines, carbamazepine, simvastatin, digoxin, sotalol, beta blockers or other blood pressure medicines

Keep the tablets in the original pack to protect them from light, out of the sight and reach of children.

Grapefruit: do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking lercanidipine.

Alcohol: avoid alcohol, as it can affect how the medicine works.

Driving: do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy.
