Dettol Antiseptic Liquid 4.8% Solution

Chloroxylenol is an antiseptic that helps kill germs on the skin. As a first aid liquid, it is used to help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes and small burns.

Lower-strength versions are also found in some antibacterial hand washes and soaps.

Use it only on the skin and follow the directions on the pack or from your pharmacist.

• Do not use the concentrated liquid neat on skin. Dilute it with water as the label says.
• Clean the area first, then apply a small amount of the diluted solution.
• If you cover the area with a dressing, let it dry first.
• Do not use it for more than a week unless a doctor tells you to.

Skin irritation can happen, especially if the liquid is not diluted properly or you have sensitive skin.

Get medical help straight away if:

• Someone swallows it
• It gets in the eyes (rinse well with cold water first)
• You get signs of an allergic reaction, such as a spreading rash, swelling or trouble breathing

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you:

• Have eczema or another skin condition
• Are allergic to chloroxylenol or any ingredient in the product
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Want to use it on a baby under 1 year old (do not use without advice)

Store below 30°C and keep out of the reach of children.

For external use only. Do not use it in the eyes or over large areas of the body. See a doctor for deep or puncture wounds, animal bites or serious burns, or if the wound gets worse or does not heal. Keep pets such as cats away from it.
