Colofac 135mg Tablets

Mebeverine is an antispasmodic. It relaxes the muscles in the wall of the gut. It is used to relieve:

• tummy cramps, spasms and pain
• symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and similar gut problems

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

• Take it about 20 minutes before a meal.
• Swallow tablets or capsules whole with water.
• Measure the liquid with the spoon supplied.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due; then skip it. Never take two doses at once.

Side effects are uncommon. They can include:

• skin rash
• itchy or red skin

Get emergency help if you have:

• swelling of the throat or tongue
• a raised, itchy rash with trouble breathing

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have had a reaction to mebeverine before
• have paralytic ileus (a gut that has stopped moving)
• have liver or kidney problems
• have been told to avoid sucrose (some products contain sugar)
• are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding
• take any other medicines or herbal remedies

It is suitable for most adults and children aged 10 and over.

Store as directed on the pack, and keep out of the reach of children. Ask your pharmacist if you are unsure.

Breastfeeding: usually possible, but check with a doctor or pharmacist first.

Driving: it does not usually affect driving, cycling or using machinery.
