Clavir 60mg Tablets

Daclatasvir is an antiviral medicine for adults with hepatitis C, a viral infection of the liver. It stops the virus from multiplying and infecting new cells, which lowers the amount of virus and clears it from the blood over time.

It must always be taken together with other hepatitis C medicines (for example sofosbuvir, sometimes with ribavirin), never by itself. Read the leaflets for all your hepatitis C medicines.

Take it exactly as your doctor tells you, usually once a day.

• Swallow the tablet whole; do not chew or crush it, as it tastes very unpleasant. You can take it with or without food.
• Treatment usually lasts 12 or 24 weeks. Take every dose for the whole course, or the treatment may not work.
• If you miss a dose and remember within 20 hours, take it straight away. If it is 20 hours or more, skip it and take the next dose as usual. Never take a double dose.
• Do not stop unless your doctor tells you to.

Common side effects (when used with sofosbuvir) include:

• headache, tiredness
• trouble sleeping, dizziness, migraine
• nausea, diarrhoea, tummy pain
• joint or muscle aches

With ribavirin, low red blood cells (anaemia), cough, rash and itching are also common.

Tell your doctor straight away if you take a heart medicine and have:

• a slow heartbeat, palpitations, shortness of breath, light-headedness or fainting

Do not take it with phenytoin, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, rifampicin, rifabutin, rifapentine, dexamethasone tablets or injections, or St John's wort.

Tell your doctor before starting if you:

• take, or took in recent months, amiodarone for heart rhythm
• have ever had hepatitis B
• have serious liver damage
• have diabetes (blood sugar may drop, so your diabetes medicines may need changing)
• take HIV medicines, digoxin, warfarin, dabigatran, statins, some antibiotics or antifungals, blood pressure medicines or birth control pills

No special storage conditions are needed. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Pregnancy: do not take it if you are pregnant. Women who could get pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for 5 weeks after. If ribavirin is also used, it can seriously harm an unborn baby, so neither partner should conceive.

Breastfeeding: do not breastfeed during treatment.

Driving: do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy, cannot concentrate or have vision problems.

Children: not recommended under 18. Some tablets contain lactose.
