Aslow Plus Tablet 325/40mg Tablets

Aspirin and omeprazole is used by people who need daily aspirin to help prevent another heart attack or stroke, and who are at risk of getting a stomach ulcer from aspirin.

• Aspirin stops blood platelets clumping together, which helps prevent clots in the arteries.
• Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. It lowers the amount of acid the stomach makes, which helps lower the risk of ulcers.

It is not used to treat a heart attack or stroke as it happens.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, usually once a day.

• Take it at least 60 minutes before a meal.
• Swallow the tablet whole with liquid. Do not split, chew, crush or dissolve it.
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without speaking to your doctor, as this may raise your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless your next dose is due. Never take two doses together.

Common side effects include:

• indigestion or heartburn
• stomach pain or feeling sick
• diarrhoea
• chest discomfort behind the breastbone, such as after eating

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• black or bloody stools, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
• severe stomach pain, nausea or vomiting
• unusual or long-lasting bleeding or bruising
• severe or watery diarrhoea that does not go away
• a rash, swelling, a change in how much you pass urine, or yellow skin or eyes
• muscle cramps, shakiness or an uneven heartbeat (possible low magnesium)

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• are allergic to aspirin, other NSAIDs or omeprazole, or have had asthma or hives after taking them
• have a stomach ulcer, bleeding problems, liver disease or severe kidney disease
• are pregnant or breastfeeding
• drink 3 or more alcoholic drinks a day
• take clopidogrel, ticagrelor, blood thinners, methotrexate, digoxin, water tablets, rilpivirine, rifampicin or St John's wort

Store at room temperature in the original container with the drying sachet, keep the bottle tightly closed to protect from moisture, and keep out of the reach of children.

Bleeding: aspirin raises the risk of bleeding, including in the stomach, even without warning signs.

Long-term use: taking omeprazole for a long time may lower vitamin B12 and magnesium levels and increase the risk of bone fractures. Your doctor may check these.

Pregnancy: avoid in later pregnancy (from about 30 weeks), as it may harm the baby's heart. Breastfeeding is not recommended.

Children: do not give to a child with a viral infection because of the risk of Reye's syndrome.
