Zonlac 30mg Injection

Ketorolac trometamol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It reduces substances in the body that cause pain, swelling and fever.

It is used for short-term relief of moderately severe pain, usually after an operation. It is not for mild pain or long-term (chronic) pain.

Treatment usually starts with an injection into a vein or muscle, and may then continue with tablets.

Use it exactly as your doctor tells you.

• Injections are given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic.
• The total treatment, injections and tablets together, must not go beyond 5 days.
• Take tablets with water at the times your doctor advises.
• If you miss a tablet, take it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due. Never take two doses together.
• Do not take other NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen at the same time.

Common side effects include:

• headache, dizziness or drowsiness
• diarrhoea, constipation or wind
• mouth sores or sweating
• pain where the injection was given

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• black or bloody poo, or vomiting blood
• chest pain, weakness on one side, or slurred speech
• swelling of the face or throat, rash, blisters or trouble breathing
• yellow skin or eyes, or unusual bleeding or bruising
• passing much less urine, or sudden swelling or weight gain

Tell your doctor before using it if you:

• have had a stomach ulcer, bleeding, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
• have kidney or liver disease, or are dehydrated
• have heart disease, high blood pressure, or have had a heart attack or stroke
• have a bleeding or clotting problem, or are about to have heart bypass surgery
• have asthma, nasal polyps, or are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs
• take blood thinners, steroids, SSRIs, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, probenecid or pentoxifylline

It is less suitable for people aged 65 or older.

Keep tablets in their original closed container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture (not in the bathroom), and out of the reach of children.

Serious risks: like other NSAIDs, it can cause stomach bleeding, kidney problems, heart attack or stroke, which is why treatment is limited to 5 days.

Pregnancy: avoid from around 20 weeks of pregnancy, and it should not be used during labour, unless your doctor says otherwise.

Breastfeeding: do not breastfeed while using it.

Alcohol and driving: alcohol raises the risk of stomach bleeding. Do not drive if you feel drowsy or dizzy.
