Softin-F Tablets 120mg Tablets

Fexofenadine is an antihistamine. It blocks histamine, a substance the body releases during an allergic reaction.

It is used to relieve:

• hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, a runny or blocked nose and itchy, watery eyes
• hives (itchy raised rash)
• other allergy symptoms, including reactions to insect bites and stings

It usually starts to work within 1 to 2 hours.

Take it as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at about the same time each day.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water.
• The higher-strength tablets are best taken before a meal.
• Do not take it with apple, orange or grapefruit juice, as they can make it work less well.
• Leave about 2 hours between fexofenadine and indigestion remedies containing aluminium or magnesium.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due. Never double up.

Common side effects include:

• headache
• feeling sleepy or dizzy
• feeling sick

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• a fast or uneven heartbeat
• swelling of the lips, mouth, throat or tongue, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a severe rash (call an ambulance)

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have had an allergic reaction to fexofenadine or any medicine
• have liver or kidney problems
• have or have had heart problems
• are due an allergy test (you may need to stop it a few days before)
• are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding
• take leflunomide, teriflunomide, velpatasvir or apalutamide

Store at room temperature in the closed original container, away from heat and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Drowsiness: it is a non-drowsy antihistamine, but some people still feel sleepy. Check how it affects you before driving or using machines.

Alcohol: it is best not to drink alcohol while taking it.

Pregnancy: not usually recommended; other antihistamines may be preferred.
