Slorit Tablets 5mg Tablets

Desloratadine is an antihistamine that usually does not make you drowsy. It helps control allergic reactions and their symptoms for a full day.

It is used to relieve:

• allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever or dust mite allergy: sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy palate and itchy, red or watery eyes
• urticaria (hives): itching and raised rash

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, usually once a day.

• Swallow tablets whole with water, with or without food.
• For syrup or solution, use the measuring device supplied, not a kitchen spoon.
• For melt-in-the-mouth tablets, use dry hands, place on the tongue and let it dissolve.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can, then go back to your usual time. Do not take a double dose.
• Your doctor will advise how long to take it. See a doctor if you do not feel better or feel worse.

Common side effects include:

• tiredness
• dry mouth
• headache

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, wheezing or trouble breathing
• a fit (seizure)
• yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, pale poo, sickness or fever (possible liver problems)
• a fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat, or feeling faint

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• are allergic to desloratadine or loratadine
• or your family have a history of seizures
• have kidney or liver problems
• have phenylketonuria (some melt-in-the-mouth tablets contain aspartame)
• take any other medicines

Tablets are not suitable for children under 12; other forms may be used in younger children as advised.

Store as directed on the pack (some tablets below 30°C), away from heat and moisture. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: it is not recommended. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Driving: it rarely causes drowsiness, but if it does, do not drive or use machines.

Alcohol: take care when drinking alcohol while using it.

Sun: rarely, skin may become more sensitive to sunlight.
