Qsartan tab 25mg Tablets

Losartan belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It relaxes and widens blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure. It is used for:

• high blood pressure
• heart failure
• kidney disease caused by type 2 diabetes

It is usually a long-term treatment.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, usually once a day at the same time.

• Swallow tablets with water, with or without food.
• If you miss a dose, just take the next one at the usual time. Never take two doses together.
• You will need regular blood pressure checks and blood tests.
• If you have vomiting, diarrhoea or a fever, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice, as you may become dehydrated.
• Do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

Common side effects include:

• dizziness and tiredness
• headache
• tummy pain, feeling or being sick
• swollen legs, ankles or feet

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or trouble breathing
• a fast, pounding or irregular heartbeat
• yellow skin or whites of the eyes

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have had a reaction to losartan or another ARB, or have had angioedema
• have severe heart failure or liver problems
• take potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium
• take anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen
• take other blood pressure medicines, water tablets, lithium, fluconazole, some antidepressants or antipsychotics
• are breastfeeding

Store as directed on the pack, and keep out of the reach of children. Ask your pharmacist if you are unsure.

Pregnancy: losartan is not usually used in pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or trying to conceive.

Alcohol and grapefruit: limit alcohol, and avoid grapefruit juice.

Driving: if you feel dizzy or tired, wait until it passes before driving.
