Mucosta Tablet 100mg Tablets

Rebamipide is a stomach-protecting medicine. It is used:

• to treat stomach (gastric) ulcers
• to improve damage to the stomach lining, such as erosions, bleeding, redness and swelling, in acute gastritis and flare-ups of chronic gastritis

It helps the stomach lining protect and repair itself.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

• It is usually taken three times a day. For stomach ulcers it is often taken in the morning, in the evening and at bedtime.
• Push the tablet out of the blister before swallowing. Never swallow the blister foil, as its sharp edges can injure your throat.
• Keep taking it for as long as your doctor advises.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless your next dose is nearly due. Do not take a double dose.

Side effects are uncommon. They may include:

• thirst or dry mouth
• constipation, bloating, diarrhoea, feeling sick or heartburn
• a change in taste
• dizziness or drowsiness
• rash, itching or hives
• breast swelling or pain

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as swelling, difficulty breathing or feeling faint
• yellow skin or eyes, or fever with a rash
• unusual bruising or bleeding, sore throat or frequent infections

Do not take it if you have ever had an allergic reaction to rebamipide or any of its ingredients.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• are older, as you may be more likely to get stomach side effects
• take any other medicines

Its safety in children has not been established.

Store at room temperature (1–30°C) in a tightly closed container protected from light. Keep in the original pack and out of the reach of children.

Pregnancy: its safety in pregnancy is not established. It should be used only if your doctor decides the benefit outweighs the risk.

Breastfeeding: avoid breastfeeding while taking it, as it passed into milk in animal studies.
