Gneb 2.5mg Tablets

Nebivolol is a beta blocker. It lowers high blood pressure by slowing your heart rate and relaxing blood vessels, so the heart does not have to pump as hard.

It controls blood pressure but does not cure it. The full effect may take about 2 weeks.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, usually once a day at about the same time, with or without food.

• Keep taking it even if you feel well.
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless your next dose is nearly due; then skip it. Never take a double dose.
• Your doctor may ask you to check your pulse regularly.

Common side effects include:

• headache, tiredness, weakness or dizziness
• feeling sick, diarrhoea or stomach pain
• trouble sleeping
• numbness or tingling in the hands or feet

Call your doctor straight away if you have:

• chest pain
• a very slow, fast or irregular heartbeat
• shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• sudden weight gain or swelling of the legs or feet

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have a slow or irregular heartbeat, heart failure or liver disease
• have asthma or another lung disease
• have diabetes, an overactive thyroid, kidney disease, poor circulation or a tumour of the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma)
• take any other medicines or supplements
• are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding

Keep in the original, tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture (not in the bathroom), and out of the reach of children.

Low blood sugar: nebivolol may hide the warning signs of low blood sugar. If you have diabetes, learn other signs and tell your doctor if you cannot eat normally or are vomiting.

Surgery: tell your surgeon or dentist you take it. Allergic reactions may be more severe and harder to treat.

Driving: it can cause dizziness or tiredness, so take care until you know how it affects you.
