Eytofen Eye Drops 0.25/0.25mg Drops

Ketotifen eye drops contain an anti-allergic medicine. They are used to treat eye symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis), such as itchy, red or watery eyes.

They can be used by adults, older people and children aged 3 years and over.

Use the drops exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

• Wash your hands. Do not let the tip of the bottle touch your eye or anything else.
• Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid and squeeze one drop into the eye.
• Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner for 1 to 2 minutes so the drop stays in the eye.
• Take out soft contact lenses before using the drops and wait 15 minutes before putting them back.
• If you use other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between them.
• If you forget a dose, use it when you remember and then carry on as normal. Do not use a double dose.

Common side effects include:

• eye irritation or pain
• inflammation in the eye

Less common effects include blurred vision just after using the drops, dry eyes, eyelid problems, sensitivity to light, headache, drowsiness and dry mouth.

Stop using the drops and talk to a doctor if you have:

• signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or eyelids, or a rash
• worsening of asthma or eczema
• ongoing stinging, pain or unusual feeling in the eye

Do not use the drops if you are allergic to ketotifen or any of the other ingredients.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using them if you:

• take medicines for depression, anxiety or sleep problems, or other allergy medicines (antihistamines)
• have dry eyes or problems with the cornea, as the preservative can irritate the eye
• wear soft contact lenses (the preservative can discolour them)
• are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning a baby

The drops can be used while breastfeeding.

Do not store above 25°C. Throw the bottle away 4 weeks after first opening it. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Driving: the drops can cause blurred vision, drowsiness or dizziness. Wait until this has passed before driving or using machines.

Alcohol: ketotifen may increase the effects of alcohol.

Swallowing the drops by mistake or using an extra drop is not dangerous, but ask your doctor if you are worried.
