Daploz 10mg Tablets

Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove extra sugar from the blood in your urine, and it can reduce the strain on the heart.

It is used to treat:

• type 2 diabetes
• heart failure
• chronic kidney disease

It is usually taken long term.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, usually once a day.

• Swallow the tablet whole, at about the same time each day, with or without food.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless your next dose is less than 12 hours away; then skip it. Never take 2 doses together.
• Keep taking it even if you feel well. Speak to your doctor before stopping.
• If you get vomiting, diarrhoea or a fever, you may become dehydrated: ask a pharmacist or doctor whether to pause it (sick day advice).

Common side effects include:

• thrush (genital yeast infection)
• back pain
• passing urine more often
• low blood sugar (feeling dizzy or faint)

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• feeling very thirsty, confused, very tired, sick or sweet-smelling breath (possible ketoacidosis)
• fever, shivering or burning when you pass urine
• severe pain, swelling, redness or blisters around the genitals or back passage
• swelling of the tongue or throat, an itchy rash or trouble breathing

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have had a reaction to dapagliflozin before
• have type 1 diabetes
• have liver problems
• have low blood pressure or take medicines that lower it
• often get urinary infections
• take furosemide, gliclazide, blood pressure medicines or lithium

Store as directed on the pack or leaflet, and keep out of the sight and reach of children. Ask your pharmacist if you are unsure.

Ketoacidosis: this is rare but serious. Get urgent help if you have the warning signs above.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: avoid it. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, might be, or are breastfeeding.

Alcohol: limit alcohol, as it can lower blood pressure further.

Driving: do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy.
