Cilosta 100mg Tablets

Cilostazol is an antiplatelet medicine that helps blood flow better to the legs. It is used to reduce leg pain that comes on when walking and eases with rest (intermittent claudication), caused by narrowed leg arteries.

It controls the symptoms but does not cure the condition. You may notice improvement after 2 to 4 weeks, but the full benefit can take up to 12 weeks.

Take cilostazol exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at about the same times each day.

• Take it at least 30 minutes before, or 2 hours after, breakfast and evening meal.
• Keep taking it even if you feel well. Do not stop without talking to your doctor.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due. Never take a double dose.

Common side effects include:

• Headache or dizziness
• Diarrhoea, nausea, heartburn or stomach pain
• Muscle pain

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• A fast or irregular heartbeat
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Swelling of the hands, arms, feet, ankles or lower legs
• Chest pain or fainting

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• Have or have had heart failure (you will probably be told not to take it)
• Have a bleeding stomach ulcer, bleeding in the brain or elsewhere, or a low platelet count
• Have heart, kidney or liver disease
• Take other medicines, including omeprazole, blood thinners or aspirin
• Are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding

Keep in the original, tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture (not in the bathroom), and out of the reach of children.

Medicines similar to cilostazol have increased the risk of death in people with congestive heart failure. Tell your doctor if you have ever had heart failure. Tell any surgeon or dentist that you take cilostazol, as it can affect bleeding.
