Histazolin Eye Drops 40/0.5mg Drops

These eye drops contain two medicines that work in different ways:

• Sodium cromoglycate is an anti-allergy medicine. It stops the release of natural substances in the eye that cause itching, redness and watering in allergic conjunctivitis.
• Tetrahydrozoline is a redness reliever. It eases redness of the white of the eye caused by minor irritation.

Together they are used to relieve eye allergy symptoms, including redness from minor irritation.

Use the drops as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, or as the pack says.

• Wash your hands and do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface. Replace the cap after each use.
• Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back.
• Do not use more often than advised: overusing a redness reliever can make redness worse.
• Do not use the drops if the liquid changes colour or becomes cloudy.
• If you miss a dose, use it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due. Never use a double dose.
• Ask a doctor before using it in children under 6.

Possible side effects include:

• brief stinging, burning or tingling
• blurred vision for a short time after use
• mild eye irritation
• temporarily larger pupils

Stop using the drops and see a doctor if you have:

• eye pain or changes in your vision
• redness or irritation that gets worse, or lasts more than 72 hours
• itching or swelling of the eyelid, rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing (possible allergy)

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you:

• have narrow-angle glaucoma
• have had an allergic reaction to sodium cromoglycate, tetrahydrozoline or any ingredient
• wear soft contact lenses, have dry eyes or problems with the surface of the eye
• are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding

If swallowed by accident, especially by a child, get medical help straight away.

Store below 25°C and keep out of the sight and reach of children. Unless the pack says otherwise, throw the bottle away 4 weeks after opening.

Driving: vision may blur just after use. Wait until you can see clearly before driving or using machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: ask a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Children: keep the bottle away from children. If the drops are swallowed, get medical help straight away.
