Rofluzon Tablet 500mcg Tablets

Roflumilast is used in adults with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to lower the number of flare-ups, when symptoms suddenly get worse.

It belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitors. It helps control COPD but does not cure it, and it does not treat sudden breathing problems.

Take roflumilast exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

• Take it once a day at about the same time, with or without food.
• Keep taking it even when you feel well. Do not stop without talking to your doctor.
• Keep using your reliever inhaler for sudden breathlessness.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember, unless your next dose is nearly due. Never take two doses together.

Common side effects include:

• diarrhoea and feeling sick
• loss of appetite
• headache or dizziness
• back pain or muscle spasms
• shaking of part of the body

Contact your doctor straight away if you have:

• trouble sleeping, anxiety, low mood, agitation or other mood changes
• thoughts of harming yourself
• weight loss

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have liver disease
• have ever had depression or thoughts of suicide
• take any other medicines, supplements or herbal remedies
• are pregnant, planning a baby or breastfeeding

Keep it in the original, tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture (not in the bathroom), and out of the reach of children. Do not flush unused medicine; ask your pharmacist how to dispose of it.

Roflumilast can cause weight loss. Weigh yourself regularly and tell your doctor if you are losing weight.

It can affect mood. Family and carers should watch for changes in mood or behaviour and tell the doctor straight away.
