Olgon Tablet 100mg Tablets

Flurbiprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Tablets are used to relieve pain and inflammation (redness, heat and swelling) in conditions such as:

• osteoarthritis, rheumatoid disease and ankylosing spondylitis
• frozen shoulder, bursitis, tendinitis and swollen joints
• low back pain, sprains and strains
• toothache, pain after operations, period pain and migraine

Flurbiprofen also comes as throat lozenges and sprays for sore throats; follow the leaflet for that product.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. The lowest dose that works should be used for the shortest time needed.

• Take tablets with or after food, with a glass of water.
• Do not take it with other NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, aspirin or celecoxib.
• Your doctor may give you another medicine to protect your stomach.
• If you forget a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due. Never take a double dose.
• Using painkillers for headaches for a long time can make headaches worse.

Common side effects include:

• headache, dizziness, tiredness
• indigestion, feeling or being sick, diarrhoea, constipation or wind
• fluid retention (swelling)

Stop taking it and get medical help straight away if you have:

• blood in your poo, black tarry poo, or vomit with blood or what looks like coffee grounds
• swelling of the face, lips or tongue, wheezing, breathlessness or a rash
• blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes or genitals
• severe headache with fever, stiff neck or dislike of bright light
• yellow skin or eyes, or signs of kidney problems such as passing less urine or swollen ankles
• unusual bruising, bleeding, fever, sore throat or frequent infections

Do not take it if you have, or have had, a stomach ulcer or bleeding, ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, if aspirin or other NSAIDs have caused asthma or allergy, or if you have severe heart, liver or kidney failure, or are dehydrated. Check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you:

• have heart problems, have had a stroke, or have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, or smoke
• have liver or kidney disease, lupus or a bleeding disorder
• are elderly, or have an infection (it can hide fever and pain)
• take blood thinners (such as warfarin), water tablets, blood pressure medicines, digoxin, lithium, methotrexate, steroids, SSRIs, ciprofloxacin, ciclosporin or tacrolimus

Do not store above 25°C and keep in the original packaging, out of the sight and reach of children.

Pregnancy: do not take it in the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it can harm the baby. Avoid it earlier in pregnancy and while breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it. It may make it harder to get pregnant.

Heart and stroke: NSAIDs may slightly raise the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially at high doses or with long use.

Alcohol: avoid alcohol, as it can raise the risk of side effects.

Driving: do not drive if you feel dizzy, drowsy or have eyesight problems. Not recommended for children.
