Iromose-F Tablet 100/0.35mg Tablets

Iron hydroxide polymaltose complex with folic acid is a combination supplement.

• Iron polymaltose provides iron, which the body needs to make haemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying part of red blood cells. It is often used when ordinary iron salts are not tolerated.
• Folic acid is a B vitamin needed to make healthy red blood cells. It also helps a baby's brain and spine develop.

They are combined to treat or prevent low iron when extra folic acid is also needed, such as before and during pregnancy.

Take it as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.

• Take it during or straight after a meal.
• Take tablets as directed on the pack, with water. Liquid forms can be mixed with fruit or vegetable juice.
• If you miss a dose, take the next one at the usual time. Do not take a double dose.
• Keep taking it for as long as advised. Your doctor may check your blood levels.
• Do not take other iron or folic acid supplements at the same time unless your doctor says so.

Possible side effects include:

• dark or discoloured poo (very common and harmless)
• diarrhoea or constipation
• feeling sick, indigestion, bloating, wind or loss of appetite
• less often: vomiting, stained teeth, headache, rash or itching

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• a rash, wheezing, trouble breathing, or swelling of the face, lips or tongue (allergic reaction)
• blood in your poo or black, tarry poo with feeling unwell

If a child swallows it, get medical help straight away.

Do not take it if you are allergic to any ingredient, have iron overload, or have anaemia not caused by lack of iron.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist first if you:

• have vitamin B12 deficiency or pernicious anaemia (folic acid alone should not be used for these)
• have cancer or a coronary stent
• take epilepsy medicines (phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone), co-trimoxazole, chloramphenicol, sulfasalazine, lithium or regular aspirin
• are having iron injections

Keep in a cool, dry place below 25°C, away from bathrooms and window sills, and out of the reach and sight of children.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: folic acid is advised before and in early pregnancy, and can usually be taken while breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding so they can choose the right product for you.

Alcohol: avoid or limit alcohol, as it can affect how well folic acid works.

Children: iron overdose is dangerous for children. Keep it safely stored.
