Vermox 100mg Tablets

Mebendazole kills worms living in the gut. It is used to treat:

• threadworms (pinworms)
• roundworms
• whipworms
• hookworms

Take it exactly as the label or your doctor or pharmacist tells you. For threadworms it is often a single dose, which may be repeated after 2 weeks.

• You can eat and drink as normal.
• Chew, crush or swallow tablets as the leaflet for your product says. Crush them for young children.
• Shake the liquid well and measure it with the spoon or cup provided.
• Everyone in the household usually needs treating at the same time.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless the next dose is nearly due; then skip it. Never take two doses at once.
• See a doctor if symptoms do not improve or come back.

Common side effects include:

• tummy pain or discomfort
• wind
• diarrhoea, feeling sick

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• a seizure (fit)
• swelling of the face or throat, a rash or trouble breathing
• fever, sore throat, chills or frequent infections
• yellow skin or eyes, dark urine or pale stools

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you:

• have had a reaction to mebendazole, albendazole or a similar medicine
• have liver or stomach disease
• take metronidazole or cimetidine
• are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding

It is not usually given to children under 2 unless a doctor prescribes it.

Keep it in the original, tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat and moisture (not in the bathroom), and out of the reach of children.

Hygiene: to stop worms spreading or coming back, wash hands and scrub under nails often, especially after the toilet and before eating. Keep nails short.

Pregnancy: speak to a doctor first; hygiene measures may be tried before medicine.
