Deprion Sr Tablets 150mg Tablets

Bupropion hydrochloride is an antidepressant that changes the activity of certain chemicals in the brain.

It is used to:

• treat depression
• prevent seasonal affective disorder (depression that comes back at the same time each year, usually autumn and winter)
• help adults stop smoking

It may take 4 weeks or more to feel the full benefit for mood.

Take it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you, at about the same time(s) each day.

• You can take it with food if it upsets your stomach.
• Swallow slow-release (SR or XL) tablets whole. Do not split, crush or chew them. An empty tablet shell may appear in your stool; this is normal.
• If it keeps you awake, avoid taking it close to bedtime.
• If you miss a dose, skip it and take the next one at the usual time. Never take two doses together, as this raises the risk of fits.
• Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor.

Common side effects include:

• trouble sleeping, anxiety or feeling restless
• dry mouth, headache, dizziness, shaking
• feeling sick, stomach pain, constipation, loss of appetite
• sweating, ringing in the ears, sore throat

Get medical help straight away if you have:

• a fit (seizure)
• thoughts of harming yourself, or new or worse low mood, agitation or panic
• confusion, hallucinations, a fast or irregular heartbeat
• very high energy, racing thoughts or reckless behaviour
• eye pain, redness or sudden changes in vision
• rash, blisters, fever, or swelling of the face or throat, or trouble breathing

Check with your doctor before taking it if you:

• have ever had fits (seizures), a head injury, or a brain or spine tumour
• have or have had anorexia or bulimia
• drink heavily, or take sedatives or anti-seizure medicines and plan to stop them suddenly
• have high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, or liver or kidney problems
• have bipolar disorder or have misused drugs
• take or have taken in the last 2 weeks an MAOI antidepressant, or take linezolid

Tell your doctor about all other medicines and supplements you use.

Store at room temperature in the original closed container, away from light, heat and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

Mood: contact a doctor urgently if you have thoughts of harming yourself, especially in the first few months or after a dose change. This risk is higher in people under 25.

Seizures: taking more than prescribed increases the risk of fits.

Blood pressure: it can raise blood pressure, especially with nicotine patches or gum, so have it checked regularly.

Alcohol and driving: discuss alcohol with your doctor. Do not drive until you know how it affects you.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding: tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
